About Joshua Shouse
Joshua Shouse is a Kentucky native that learned to scuba dive while in college in 2013.Josh quickly got into technical diving starting cavern class just a year later. After achieving full cave certification in 2015, Josh focused efforts on cave exploration experience in the Tennessee Alabama and Georgia (TAG) area. Owing thanks to some of the greatest sump diving and cave explorers in the world, Josh gained the experience necessary for exploring caves in the TAG area.Most of Josh’s diving takes place in and around the TAG area. Consisting mostly of sump diving; underwater passage that leads into dry passage.
Josh has been apart of the Mammoth Cave Dive Expedition team for 4 years and has helped out on numerous other projects in TAG as well as Florida. Josh has a BS in Neuroscience and a Masters in nursing and works as an ER nurse in Louisville KY. Josh is an ultra runner, mountaineer, and enjoys drinking coffee and reading comic books of all kinds. He is also the chairman for the NSS CDS Midwest workshop that takes place in Missouri every fall season.Josh has an interesting dynamic in regards to being a young generation cave diver; his best dive buddy is Forrest Wilson, one of the longest standing cave divers recognized for the invention of the line arrow.Josh has been diving with Forrest since he started his cavern class. Alongside numerous other veteran cave explorers, Josh has been able to safely explore, survey, and enjoy many of the caves of the US, both underwater and above.
